This morning we continued to work on how to identify congruent geometric shapes using proportions. We focused on how to match corresponding sides and angles of a given geometric shape and then to set up the proportion. We spent a portion of the class completing the questions on the mid chapter quiz which was assigned as homework.
This afternoon Bobby and I worked on the iMovie presentation while performing maintenance on the Mantis nursery. We watched an interesting case of canabalism and predation between two of the larger mantis' resulting in one of the mantis killing and eating the other. We fed the mantis some pin head crickets which should tie them over for the next day or so. Bobby's iMovie is due on Tuesday therefore I am not assigning homework.
How to install a dead bolt look? How to install track lighting? How to unplug a toilet? How to install a dimmer switch? How to build a small porch? These questions are all illustrated in today's session.
This afternoon Bobby and I purchased fruit flies and ordered pin head crickets for the our growing mantis nursery. We spent the rest of the period working on the timeline for the virus iMovie presentation.
This afternoon Bobby and I performed a brief review of early forms of Greek government before moving onto the homework assignment from the previous night. We reviewed the questions on page 267 before starting on the next section featuring Greek mythology. Homework is to read page 268-275 #'s 1-4.
Bobby left his book and homework at home. We reviewed Ch 29 and its introduction of a new plot line as well as the author's recurrent theme of how the fence causes complacency among the townspeople . We also reviewed the main conflict in the novel between Tom and the bounty hunters. Last, we defined vocabulary words from the reading.
I also went over a usage sheet distinguishing between: effect/affect; advise/advise; accept/except . The usage sheet also discussed how to eliminate a preposition at the end of a sentence. HW- read Ch 31
We completed Bobby's persuasive paragraph today . Bobby formed a sentence with a subordinate clause and properly used a number of connectors . We then revised and edited the paragraph correcting any punctuation errors.
