This afternoon Bobby and I made a quick visit to the new school to water and feed the praying mantis and then returned to the classroom to continue working on his powerpoint presentation. Bobby is approaching this assignment with marginal enthusiasm and I am hoping to give him as much time as possible to get this done.
This afternoon Bobby and I continued our work on the Ranger Robot tank by installing the control module, adding the battery pack and performing a brief systems check. We then added the wiring looms for the motors as well as the crane mechanism. We discovered that one of the motors was inverted causing a problem with the routing of the wire loom. It took about 15 minutes to adjust but provided to be a minor issue at best. Bobby's homework assignment is to complete the powerpoint project for the virus which is due on Monday.
This morning Bobby and I continued to practice solving proportions and moved onto simple geometric figures and symbols. Bobby admitted to having been taught some of this before but was still very rusty on his recall of basic shapes and their corresponding symbols. We reviewed pages 297-298 before beginning the homework on page 302-303 #'s 1-7 and 13,14,15.
Bobby researches the measurements needed to place various games into his very large game area on his second floor of dream house. Examples of such areas would be the following; ping pong table, pool table, darts, and shuffleboard. Bobby even provides an area for a bar with bar stools and booze storage. Great session.
I defined two terms for Bobby today: theme and foreshadowing. We discussed a number recurrent themes in the novel,Rot and Ruin , and an example of foreshadowing from the prior night's reading. We also read an additional chapter in class. I provided definitions for words as necessary. HW- read Ch 24.
We reviewed the use of transition words and then wrote two guided paragraphs related to the novel,Rot and Ruin. We will continue this exercise to increase Bobby's confidence. Bobby understands the steps: construct topic sentence, outline, prepare draft from outline, rewrite. He did well in the second exercise in formulating both the topic sentence and the supporting ideas
We also worked on a grammar worksheet focused on run- on sentences, commas, subject-verb agreement, and clarity in writing.
Bobby and I will continue going over the business side of graphic design and general business practices. We will go over the tiny house video that we watched in a previous session. We will look at some of the good that the ceo did as well as the failures that contributed to his call for help from Marcos Lemonis.
We will spend the remaining part of the class watching what makes a good deal versus what makes a bad deal.
We learned that atoms go through chemical changes with different types of atoms that can cause molecules to change the way they are put together forming new compounds. Then we learned that compounds can have different properties from the elements that formed them. Next we drew a carbon atom with the correct number of protons, neutrons, and electrons. We found elements in the Periodic Table and identified their atomic mass, symbol, protons, neutrons, and electrons.
This afternoon we continued our study of how the spread of Judiaism influenced the unification of eastern Europe. We reviewed the homework on page 245 before moving forward.
