We looked at maps and globes and compared the two. Libby told me she lives in Florida but also has a house in Utah. We identified these states on a map and compared their sizes. We then worked on letter recognition and beginning sounds. Libby achieved 8 out of 8 correct on an activity sheet. We finished the day visiting Teddy in the art room where they both worked on bead art. Their pieces will be ironed next week. Libby created a colorful pattern and made popcorn and French fries. It was a fun way to end a fun Froday.
Today, PJ and I did a full body workout with dumbbells.
PJ is having issues with his leg, so we stayed under the pavilion and different exercises with the dumbbells.
We finished with a complete body stretch.

We closely explored the deterioration of Janey's marriage to Joe as Joe deprives Janey of her "voice" . We noted Janey's growing more fractious as she challenges Joe's masculinity resulting in Joe's violently striking her. We discussed how the depiction of Black society as violent and uneducated resulted in the Black literary world ostracizing the author. We also analyzed an intricate metaphor comparing Janey as a jewel covered by the mud of the oppression of a domineering husband.
As the narrator,Death, insists he has a heart, we explored whether the narrator is sincere given his prior glib comments. Aiden felt that the narrator was in fact a feeling - although non-human - entity. We next discussed the metaphorical significance of Max's painting depicting Liesel and him walking on a tightrope to the sun. Additionally,Aiden discussed the import of Max's fantasy to enter a boxing ring with Hitler. During the final segment, Aiden completed his quote analysis test.
We first explored how mass media affects public opinion through degree or amount of coverage, placement of stories, and perspectives in photographs. We then addressed the terms "intensity, and direction" as they relate to polling ,and noted how issues of high intensity get public attention. Next,we addressed polling. I discussed how polls to be accurate must be scientific and based on a random sample, i.e a sample that is not too big or too small. We then studied 'push polls" and how the wording and order of poll questions can impact the poll's conclusions.
