We worked on cumulative review questions on simplifying algebraic expressions. Then we practiced finding the surface area of a house. Next, we completed word problems.
Topic 8 Solve Problems Involving Surface Area and Volume
Lesson Outline
Topic 8-4 Find Volume of Spheres – We learned that the volumes of the sphere and cone are proportionally related. The volume of a sphere is twice the volume of a cone that has the same circular base and height. The formula for the volume of a sphere is V = (4/3) pi r3 where r is the radius of the sphere.
Jonathan practiced memorizing formulas for his final exam. We reviewed the equation of a line, slope, parallel, and perpendicular lines. Then we looked at Khan Academy entries to redo as many as possible.
8-9 Solve Problems Involving Volume – We reviewed finding the volume of various three-dimensional figures. Then we solved problems from the Review concepts and skills for Topic 8 Solve Problems Involving Geometry.
8-9 Solve Problems Involving Volume – We calculated the volume of various three-dimensional figures. Then we solved problems involving the volume of three-dimensional figures. To find the volume of a prism, we discovered that we had to find the area of the base (B) and multiply it by its height.
