6.3 3-Digit Addition: Regroup Ones – We learned how to find the sum of numbers in the hundreds added to another 3-digit number. Regrouping numbers in the ones decimal place is required.
Assignment: Complete homework problems.
6.2 Break Apart 3-Digit Addends – We practiced adding three digits to three digits regrouping the ones as needed. We used modeling of the hundreds as well as the tens and ones to find the sum.
We worked on adding fractions. We practiced finding a common denominator 2 different ways. We prefer the method that gives us smaller numbers so there is less possibility of error. We experimented with working the whiteboard.
6.1 Draw to Represent 3-Digit Addition – We practiced modeling to solve problems. We modeled carrying from the ones place to add a one to the tens place.
6.1 Draw to Represent 3-Digit Addition – We used modeling of addends to find the sum of numbers in the hundreds. Then we practiced this concept on several problems by drawing the hundreds, tens, and ones blocks.
Assignment: Complete homework problems.
We continued to review for a test on Chapter 5. We solved word problems with 2 arithmetic steps by modeling the addition and subtraction. We circled key numbers, underlined the question, and boxed the math “action” keywords.
