Brad's mom attended today's session. Brad began the session very sleepy and with minimal interaction. With prompting, his participation increased. Eye contact decreased slightly today (8 times). He only needed 'quiet hands' reminders once to eliminate stim behavior. He participated well with manipulatives. We used short written sentence stories to match with pictures in order to scaffold more for creation of an original story. Today, Brad finally offered two examples of original stories to match given feelings! He earned points throughout the session for answering loud and clear. At the end, we played Go Fish with detailed cards that required verbal description. Brad was very engaged during this activity and openly offered verbal participation. Brad looked up at the end of the session and verbalized 'good bye' to me with minimal prompting. His mom said she enjoyed the session. She also said she will work on obtaining reports from his previous Speech Language Pathologist.

Lesson Comments
Brad had a great day today! We worked with more manipulatives than usual, which seemed to help him stay on task. He required redirection only once and displayed stim behavior only 2 times. He made eye contact 10 times during session. Two of those times of eye contact were spontaneously during the 'hello' and 'goodbye' greetings. Activities focused around Identifying Emotions by looking at people's faces. He took a few turns (50% of given opportunities with minimal prompting) describing situations that would make people feel a certain way. He did well sorting faces by emotions. He seemed cheerful today and was very cooperative.

Lesson Outline
Brad drew the symbols for the short vowel sounds used by Orton-Gillingham and Wilson on the white board and then we wrote words for today's lesson under them. We previewed the stories in the unit and then we read and discussed three pages. Brad drew the skeleton of a Triceratops on the picture I had found of one. We labeled it's parts. We then reviewed map directions that he had learned yesterday.
