We completed more problem solving examples. David is ready to move on to the next topic. He did a great job today.
9-4 Solving Quadratic Equations Using Square Roots – We learned to solve quadratic equations by finding square roots. Then we determined reasonable solutions for real-world problems. When a quadratic equation is in the form ax2 + b = c, it can be solved by isolating the x squared term, simplifying to remove the coefficients, and then taking the square root of each side of the equation.
Assignment: Complete the assigned problems for homework.
We will solve problems that require creating a mathematical model. We will use formulas, graphs, and figures to set up the model. We will then find the result and check our work.

We did some mathematical modeling examples. David caught on to the process quickly.
We will use a Venn diagram to model a situation that could come up in Cam's reptile business. It involves taking an interest survey of possible purchasers and then use a Venn diagram to analyze the results. We did a simulation of the process to demonstrate this concept.

We did not accomplish much. Cam's great-grandmother passed away and I didn't think it was necessary to do much math today.
We will do examples of solving equations starting at the algebra1 level and building up to some algebra 2 level equations. We will also do some application problems that involve reading the problem, writing an equation, and solving the equation.
