Tutoring for Algebra 1. Preparation for E.O.C. Test, Explanation and practice of Absolute Value Functions for upcoming Chapter Test.

We defined a function and did some examples. We did problems from the text involving functions.

We will discuss topics that begin in algebra 1 and continue at a deeper ;even in algebra2. We will look at new topics in algebra 2 to give us direction in preparing for the algebra 2 course. We will review equation solving.

Test on 9-3 Rewriting Radical Expressions.

We will continue to work on solving problems. This is a very important topic that shows up in geometry, algebra 2, and advanced math courses.

We will complete our standardized test preparation problems. We will identify where to go from here now that we dealt with a wide variety of problems.

9-5 Completing the Square – We learned to complete the square by adding the square of half of the coefficient of the x to each side of the equation. Then we solved quadratic trinomials by completing the Square to what completing the Square to write a quadratic equation in Vertex form.
Assignment: Complete the assigned problems for homework.

We will complete our work on standardized test problems. This will identify areas of strength so we can move forward into a study of algebra 2 topics.

We will complete a problem solving activity from chapter 2 of an Algebra 1 text. We will apply algebra concepts to applications that show the possible uses for algebra in real situations.
