Topic 4 Systems of Linear Equations and Inequalities
Lesson Outline
4-2 Solving Systems of Equations by Substitution – We practiced using the substitution method to solve systems of equations and we completed the homework from last night. We were able to represent situations of systems of equations and interpret solutions as viable/nonviable options for the situation.
Assignment: For homework complete 3 assigned problems.
We continued to prepare for the EOC Algebra 1 Exam by solving word problems involving 2 equations and 2 unknowns. Then we practiced the standard form of a line where it is easy to find the x and y intercepts. Next we reviewed the slope-intercept form of a line which we used to identify the graph of a line.

Lesson Outline
4-2 Solving Systems of Equations by Substitution – We learned that substitution is one method for solving systems of equations. The process involves solving one equation for a variable and substituting the solution into the system’s other equation. This results in an equation in one variable. When you have one of the variables you can solve for the other variable by substituting it into one of the original equations in the system.
