We will do compound probability involving the connecting words OR and NOT. We will use a spinner with numbered and colored sectors. We will also use a deck of cards. Examples will be done for both types.

Lesson Comments
It was a very good session. David understands the concepts. We had time to do the birthday problem as well.
We will determine a probability distribution for several basic classical probability situations. We will use the distributions to find probabilities. We will also determine probability distributions for some empirical probabilities and compare them to the theoretical distributions.

Lesson Comments
Cam was a few minutes late arriving from his previous class. We worked for about 15 minutes on the lemon , but then we had a discussion about how probabilities are applied, which was very positive. We will continue today's topic tomorrow.
We will use combinations and permutations to calculate probabilities of lotteries and daily number drawings. We will then simulate the games by choosing numbers and then generating random numbers to see if any are winners.

We had a good session. Cam participated nicely and discovered how hard it is to win a lottery like the Powerball,
We will apply combinations and permutations to problems involving choosing n items from a list of r items. We will do lottery drawings and calculate probabilities. We will simulate the poiwerball game and daily number games.

Lesson Comments
We had a lot of fun simulating the drawings and comparing them to lists that we chose. The simulation showed that it is very rare to even come close the matching 2 numbers, much less matching all numbers
8-1 Key Features of a Quadratic Function – We reviewed the attributes of a quadratic function such as minimum/maximum value, symmetry, domain, and range. Then we learned how the attributes affect the shape of a parabola.
Assignment: Complete the assigned problems for homework.
We will do examples using the fundamental counting theorem, combinations, and permutations. These will be needed to calculate certain probabilities as we continue through this topic.

Cam had to leave early. We did a few examples involving the concepts, but we will need to continue working on the topics tomorrow.
We will write probability distribution for a variety of probability experiments. We will compare and contrast distributions for theoretical and empirical probabilities. Examples will be done to demonstrate these concepts.

The lesson was completed successfully. David grasped this concept quickly and contributed some examples that we used.
We are studying the three types of probability. Today we will focus on empirical probability and its applications. We will do probability experiments to determine empirical probabilities.

We did an experiment involving a cubical die. We determined the empirical probabilities as result. We did not complete the entire lesson because Cam left school early
We will study the concept of permutations. We will define a factorial and learn a method the get its value. We will also define combinations and learn to compute the value of combinations. Examples will be done in class.
