We started with some basic problems but as we went on we looked at more complex problems and found volumes of cones and pyramids. This led to a discussion of irregularly shaped objects areas and volumes. This then led to discussion about using calculus to find areas and volumes. It was an awesome session, David stimulates great conversations with his insightful questions and comments.
9-7 Solving Systems of Linear and Quadratic Equations – We worked on graphing a linear and quadratic equation to find out the solutions. Then we practiced using substitution and elimination to solve a quadratic equation for the x value.
Assignment: Complete Topic 9 Assessment A for homework.
We will review the algebra 1 topics that are needed to move on to algebra 2 or geometry.

We worked on direct variation. We also had a discussion about infinity and different types of infinity, such as countable infinity and uncountable infinity.
We will review important topics in Algebra 1. This will give a clear picture of where Cam stands in terms of his grade.

After Cam and I had a discussion about his grade I have decided to review everything that we did in comparison to the syllabus. I am also going to give him a final exam so he can demonstrate what he can do in relationship to Algebra 1 topics needed to move on to Algebra 2 or geometry.
9-7 Solving Systems of Linear and Quadratic Equations – We learned to describe a linear-quadratic system of equations and solve this system of equations by graphing, elimination, or substitution. For any system of two equations in two variables the solution consists of the ordered pairs that satisfy both equations.
