Chapter 10 Volume and Similar Solids

Volume: Prisms and Cylinders – We practiced finding the volume of prisms, pyramids, and cylinders. As in the formulas for surface areas we used B to represent the area of a base in formulas for volumes. The formula V = Bh covers all of the possibilities of base shapes for prisms and cylinders. Next we practiced finding surface area for pyramids, cones, and prisms. Since the bases of prisms are various polygons, we use B to represent the area of any base in the general formula SA = LA + 2B.
