Define electrostatic and static. Introduce some examples of electricity at rest. Demo electrostatic attraction using a balloon and foam cups along with tissue paper. Define electrostatic force and compare it to the force of gravity. Demonstrate both attractive and repulsive force. Discuss how electrons and protons are involved with static electricity. Define charge. Define ions and why the charge is always a whole number. Define static charge. Present both Graham's law and Coulomb's law, compare both and discuss why the value of one is much larger than the other.
