Soc. Studies: Today we began a closing project on the American Unit - looking through our notes on American symbols, we picked three to paint on rocks with acrylic paints! We made the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Bell, and the American flag on their own rocks. We will finish this project tomorrow!
Science: Created an invitation for Macy to play with random metal gadgets (hardware materials), she showed interest in how to make them stick together - so we brought out large magnets to play with!
We discovered that some metals are NOT magnetic. We went on a small exploration outside and around the school to see what was magnetic and what was not. We came back to the room to journal about our findings. :)
Dr. Seuss's Birthday! We spent our time together reading great Dr. Seuss books, watching and dancing to music videos, and even doing a guided drawing of several characters from The Lorax!
Bible: Today we watched the SuperBook episode "Road to Damascus" and talked about God's never-ending forgiveness - how we can extend second chances to people in our own lives!
Soc. Studies: Continued state studies with New York state flower (rose), SE and SW regions practice with the U.S. map puzzle.
Soc. Studies: Today we finished the U.S. map with last week's memory Bible verse. Macy wanted to take it home today!
Bible: Practiced Psalm 33:12, watched the story of Daniel on SuperBook instead and discussed standing up for what is right/ what you believe in, even if it is hard/uncomfortable.
Read aloud (and together): Frog and Toad Forever "The List", Henry and Mudge - The First Book
Soc. Studies: We continued our state study with the orange blossom (FL state flower) and began an arts integration project of the United States map, highlighting GA, FL, and MO - the states close to Macy's heart.
Bible: New story from 1 Samuel 31, David becomes king
New memory verse - Psalm 33:12, Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord!
Soc. Studies: We made drawings of U.S. symbols on leftover paper towels from our penny experiment - the penny with Abraham Lincoln and the U.S. map, which she drew from memory!
Science: To continue learning about different chemical reactions, Macy wanted to make a VOLCANO! We made the form today with modge podge and will make it erupt tomorrow!
Math: I found an old clock in my classroom with no glass that Macy can manipulate. We did a little extra telling time practice from Ms. Summer's lesson today.
Read alouds: Frog and Toad are Friends "The Spring"
