Soc. Studies: Olympics Research packet, pg 4 about the 15 events with a writing response and picture. We also watched some Pyeongchang gold medal performances in Figure Skating, Snowboarding, and Alpine Skiing.

Valentine's Day activities:

We made a bag to collect all of Macy's V-Day cards and gifts!

She hand-painted and wrote a V-Day card for her Mommy!

New read aloud: The Enormous Potato

Social Studies: Today we continued our research in the Olympics packet, page 3, and reviewed Olympics vocab/ short answer questions.

Bible:
We read from 1 Samuel 19 about King Saul and David. We watched SuperBook (David and the Giant) for the background story of David.

Intro to new memory verse: Psalm 40:31a - But those who trust in the Lord will receive new strength.

Soc. Studies: Macy and I discussed the different Olympic events she was able to watch this weekend and she journaled about her favorites.

Extra Activities:
Macy is interested in learning some Spanish! We worked on numbers 1-10 and colors and played some games on the iPad to practice.

We read aloud Pete the Cat (I Love My White Shoes), and talked about OPTIMISM! We did a character drawing!

We spent today talking and laughing, doing a little writing and a LOT of cleaning. I made sure that everything that he created/was hanging in his room was sent home. We did not have enough time to finish our last chapter book (Junie B. Jones is a Beauty Shop Guy) - so that was my gift to him! I hope you enjoy reading it together!

Social Studies: We created an Olympics mural on wall and learned symbolism related to the colors and number of the Olympic rings.

We began reading the 2018 Winter Olympics Research booklet and answered questions on page 1.

Found S. Korea on world map

Bible: Practiced memory verse, she has it memorized already!

Watched "A Voice in the Night" - Samuel's story and completed activity on Bible App for Kids.

Soc studies: Intro to Olympics/ Winter Olympics with videos, she learned about the Olympic symbols and journaled about them.

Bible: The story of Samuel with Bible biography on Superbook, new memory verse (Psalm 56:3 When I am afraid, I will trust in Thee).

Today Kelcy and I completed putting together and writing his Valentine's card. It will be dry tomorrow and he is excited to give it to his parents!

We read two short chapters of Junie B. and responded in his Wonder Journal.

Kelcy spent a good portion of our session recording his Word Wall words, letters, and letter chunks into his journal as well. I wanted to make sure he had a portable word wall to take with him and to show his teachers when you return home!
