Gracyn and I researched Dolphins. We read several cool facts about what they eat, their habitat, and species. She then came up with four facts to include in her research paragraph. We used a word web to help with the organization of her research. Then she typed her paragraph! We looked up pictures and put them together with her paragraph. She also created a title page. We ended the day reading stories on Raz Kids:
Gracyn wrote her spelling words one time each. In writing she had to complete the sentence: If I found a lot of gold..she wrote that she would buy the Samantha and Kit dolls. We then completed her Easter basket craft. It turned out super cute!
Math lesson 13-5 to lesson 13-6 continue with value and adding coins up. Work on different ways to make change and add money using different kinds of coins. Do addition and subtraction practice worksheet.
Math lesson 13-2 and 13-3 money and value of coins- penny, nickel, dime... Sort and count out money coins. Play math games buying items using coins and counting. Review coins and their value - play money bingo game with another student.
We did morning circle time including calendar, weather, month and date.
We read a level A book and also completed comprehension worksheets on the story. We read a story and discussed it. We drew and labelled a picture about the story. We did a Reading eEggs lesson. We worked in the science textbook "How we Move".
Today Arianna and I explored graphing in math. First we charted the results and then I asked her to point out which group has the most and which group has the least. The second part was more tricky. She had to investigate and find the objects needed to be graphed. She circled them so she would not miss any. Then she graphed them and again I asked her which was the most and which was least. Then we played some life skill games on pbs.org and then looked up rainbow pictures!
Today Arianna and I painted her Easter bunny basket. We are using a water jug to create a basket for the egg hunt on Friday. Tomorrow we will add the ears, eyes, mouth, and whiskers. She loves to paint and said many times how much she enjoyed this project!
Gracyn wrote her spelling words one time each. She is worried about the word Easter, but I have full confidence in her! Then she completed the sentence of dolls came to life. On Science we explored reptiles! We thought the chameleon was the coolest reptile as its eyes moved all around. We have now completed the unit of animal classification. Tomorrow we will begin her research projects on Dolphins (the animal she chose to learn more about). We painted her Easter basket today. Tomorrow we will accessorize it. We ended the day reading two books on Raz Kids.
Arianna and I learned about the dates on the calendar. We filled in missing numbers. We also looked at days that were Monday in the calendar and she circled them. We also learned about temperature and identifying things that are hot and things that are cold. We walked around the school and went outside to feel how hot the temperature was and how cold items in the freezer were. She took her chapter 15 test on the calendar, temperature, seasons, and days of the week. She got every problem correct! I was so proud of her! We start chapter 16 tomorrow. This is the last chapter in her kindergarten text book. We will spend the remaining days of the year reviewing concepts she has learned this year.
Gracyn was introduced to this week's spelling words. They included big, pig, dig, said, hand, jump, and her bonus word is Easter! Today she wrote them each once. In writing she wrote about what is under her bed. She said "Under my bed is a silly monster with three eyes!" Then she drew a funny picture. Next we learned about amphibians. We watched a video about the life cycle of a frog. Then we googled pictures of frogs. The tree frog is Gracyn's favorite frog! We did some time on reading eggs and then we read a level E book on Arctic Animals. Before she read we brainstormed what she already knew about arctic animals. I wrote her responses on the board. Then we did a book walk and she recognized many of the animals from her science lesson on Arctic animals. We looked at some of the words that could be challenging and wrote them on post its. Then it was time to read. She did a great job sounding out the words she didn't know. I was very proud of her. We did a worksheet on simple predicate. First I modeled what a predicate is. Then she was able to successfully identify the simple predicate in each sentence.
