17-4 Graphing Equations
We learned that a graph of a linear equation contains all of the points on the coordinate grid whose x- and y-coordinates satisfy the equation.
Animal Architects
Living things are affected by their environment and cause changes to their environment. Animals such as, beavers have a very large effect on their environment. Beavers build dams that cause ponds and wetlands to form. The trees that the beavers cut down are harmed and the organisms that lived in the flowing water of the stream must move. Fire ants accidentally brought to the United States on a cargo ship, spread all over the southeastern United States. They are an invasive animal that have wiped out colonies of native harvester ants. Harvester ants were a favorite food of the horned lizard so now there were very few horned lizards.
17-3 Distances on Number Lines and the Coordinate Plane
We learned that the distance between two points on the number line is the number of unit segments between the points. Then we learned that to find the length of vertical and horizontal line segments is the same as finding the distance between two points on the number line.
Today we went over material covered during the school year and set up goals for the new school year coming up. We watched a Spanish soap opera called Reina de Corazones, we practiced listening and comprehension skills.
