We changed books - the one we were using was too difficult. We went over parts of speech - what is a noun and verb. Ana is struggling with the concept.

2)Assignment: Write a Descriptive essay about our class session that is at least one page in length.
3) Michael and I go for a walk around the school, noting the way things feel, smell, appear, etc. to help us write our descriptive essay.

2)Brainstorm ideas on what Michael can write a "How to" essay on
3) Begin writing an introduction for How to Make a Starbuck's Frapp (Michael's chosen topic).

1)Michael writes the body and conclusion to his "How to" essay on How to make a Starbuck's Frappaccuino at home.

1)Michael reads "Coffee" article, taking active notes as he presses through the article.
2) Michael and I discuss the article's content: What does it argue? What does Michael believe about some of its precepts?
3)Michael writes a thesis statement for his stance on the article and begins paraphrasing its information.

Ana and I read more from a story in the textbook, then did a few exercises. She was not able to do any homework over the holidays.

1) Michael and I revisit his Facebook essay and articles, reviewing what each said about Michael's overarching argument.
2) Michael paraphrases the second article and explains how it pertains to his paper's argument.

WE read a short story from the grammer and composition book, and worked on writing some sentences.

Ana and I went over how to create a complete sentence - what are nouns, verbs, etc.
