Another great session with Cameron today. He's really come a long way and continues to work hard. He won't be in town next Monday, so we're taking this opportunity to start working on practice tests.

Cameron has done a great job with the vocabulary cards and has really increased his potential on the verbal sections. He has quite an impressive vocabulary and is pretty good and recognizing positive/negative words. If he continues to practice, he should be in good shape for February.

Lesson Comments
Today's lesson went very well. Cameron had a little trouble remembering the formulas at first, but had them down by the end of the session. He seems to be in great shape heading into the break and is committed to doing work an hour a day until we next meet.
We completed Cameron's essay for his application. It came together very well and he was pleased by the outcome. His writing has improved since we started and he said it was the first time he ever enjoyed writing and really liked his essay.
Cameron is starting to have a little trouble with the advanced math, which is to be expected. He's did very well with solving equations, but seemed to stumble when it came to word problems, especially those involving percentages and fractions. His biggest problem is that he keeps trying to do everything in his head. If he can set up the equation, he usually can solve it. This is critical with percentages and fractions. By the end of the hour he definitely seemed to have improved.

Lesson Comments
Cameron did not complete all of the work I assigned for today. He did write the paragraph for the application essay, but did not do the introductory paragraph practice drill. So instead, we spent the first 25 minutes working on his essay. After, we started to tackle upper level math. Cameron has done some algebra and was shaky to start, but after practice the rules seemed to some back to him and he was answering questions consistently.
I thought today's lesson went very well. Cameron has trouble coming up with specific examples to use in his writing. We discussed different "go to" areas to draw from and worked on coming up with examples from both sides of the issue. He still needs work with introductory paragraphs and topic sentences, but I think he's improved. His attitude remains very positive.

Cameron had a very good day today. He nearly completed the index cards for his vocab list and although he didn't complete the rest of the work I assigned, he came in with a good attitude and ready to work. We spent half the session working on word analogies and the other on working with fractions. I'm very pleased with his attitude and effort.

Cameron had a great day today. He came in positive and focused, and really worked hard in the math drills. On the practice test, he missed a couple of questions based on +/- numbers and order of operation mistakes. We went back over the material and did multiple practice problems designed to help Cameron remember the rules. He progressed all through the lesson and really seemed to grasp it. I'm very pleased with his attitude and commitment.

Cameron did pretty well on the verbal test, scoring correctly on 30/60 questions. He did very well on eliminating the obviously wrong answers and I think he can definitely improve his score with hard work. I'm very impressed with his effort and attitude.
