We only connected for 5 minutes today, but we used the time to set the plans for next week.
Session Date
Lesson Topic
Quadrilaterals
Lesson Outline
We will begin with a review of trapezoids and parallelograms. We will use the properties of these figures to solve problems. We will then study the rhombus and identify the properties of a rhombus and compare them to the properties of a parallelogram. I have prepared a notes sheet on the properties of quadrilaterals that we will be using for the next several classes. It was sent by email and should be printed for additional notes to be added.
Assignment
A problem sheet will be sent by email.

Quadrilaterals
Lesson Outline
After a brief review of triangles we will begin a study of quadrilaterals. The relationship between triangels and quadrilaterals will enable us to connect many concepts that have already been learned. We will define the term quadrilateral and identify specific types. The first type will be a trapezoid and the second type will be a parallelogram.
Assignment
Be able to identify the properties of a trapezoid and the properties of a parallelogram.

Overlapping Triangles
Lesson Outline
The review part of our session will involve homework sheet number 4. We will discuss all of the answers and the topics involved in finding the answers. We will then prove triangles congruent in a figure in which the triangles overlap. We will see this often in our study of quadrilaterals.
Assignment
Review triangles to identify any concept that you may need to review.

We are now finished with our study of triangles. We are ahead of the syllabus by one week. Kaitlyn is consistently doing a great job.

Lesson Topic
Segments in Triangles
Lesson Outline
We will start with an example of a geometry application in construction (trusses). We will review isosceles triangles and the theorems related to them. We will then define altitude, median, angle bisector, and perpendicular bisector of a side of a triangle. Examples will be given of each of these triangle segments.
Assignment
Homework #4 should be completed by class time tomorrow.

Lesson Topic
Special Triangles
Lesson Outline
Today we will review the concept of congruent triangles. this will be followed by applying this concept to isosceles and equilateral triangles' We will prove several new theorems and apply them to problems.

Congruent Triangles
Lesson Outline
We will start with a review of congruent triangles. We will prove the Third Angle Theorem and use it to prove the AAS Congruence Theorem. We will review the concept of perpendicular lines and use this concept to prove the Hypotenuse Leg Theorem. We will introduce and apply the concept of corresponding parts of congruent triangles are congruent (CPCTC).
Assignment
The assignment was sent by email as an attachment. It is due Thursday.

Triangles
Lesson Outline
We will go over the assignment given yesterday and review the theorems and postulates on triangles. The new material for today will involve more theorems and postulates related to triangles. We will use the statements to do some proofs, and we will apply them to geometric figures.
