Lesson Topic
Angles and Triangles
Lesson Outline
We will complete our study of angles by identifying angle pairs formed by two parallel lines cut by a transversal. We will also state the theorems related to this situation. Some applications of angles to real situations will also be presented. We will end class by introducing triangles and defining appropriate terms. The assignment is to look at the 11-page handout to review each new term.
Assignment
Be able to identify angle pairs and parts of a triangle by name.

Lesson Topic
Angle Pairs
Lesson Outline
We will study the congruent supplements theorem, the congruent complements theorem, and the angle bisector theorem and its converse. We will write a definition for parallel lines.
Assignment
Know what a transversal is in relationship to parallel lines.

Lesson Comments
We are making great progress through the beginning part of geometry. All the theorems, definitions, and postulates will lead to many practical applications, so a good foundation is being laid to move in that direction.

Lesson Topic
Angles
Lesson Outline
Review the definition of angle and identify the vertex and measure of an angle. Several theorems will be presented related to angles, and we will use them to solve problems. The vertical angle theorem and the linear pair theorem are very important for applications. Homework will involve problem solving using the theorems.
Assignment

Lesson Topic
Angles
Lesson Outline
We will start with definitions of complementary, supplementary, and vertical angles. We will define the term angle bisector and prove the angle bisector theorem. We will study the linear pair theorem, the congruent complements theorem and several other theorems as time permits. We will also define the concept of the converse of a theorem.
Assignment
Draw visuals for each term defined.

Lesson Comments
During tonight's remote review session for James' FLVS Geometry Final Exam, he worked diligently and productively in completely various difficult problems covering a wide range of key course topics.
Session Date
Lesson Topic
Review the homework involving theorems and postulates related to lines. Begin the study of angles. Define the term angle, define the term vertex, and draw an example.
Lesson Outline
After the homework quiz we will prove our first theorem. The steps in a formal proof will be shown as we prove the common segments theorem with a formal statements - reasons proof. The process is the important emphasis of the proof. This will be followed by introducing the concept of an angle.
Assignment
Know the types of angles by their numerical measure and be able to identify an angle by its name.

Lines and planes
Lesson Outline
We will begin by going over the assignment from yesterday. We will the define colinear points. This will lead to a discussion of the segment addition postulate and allow us to look at situations that determine a unique plane, these include three noncolinear points, two intersecting lines, and two parallel lines. The assignment will be to look up these new concepts on the 11-page document.
Assignment
Look up definitions and postulates as given in class on the "11-page document: sent by email,

Lines
Lesson Outline
We will start with a homework quiz. The new material for today will focus on lines. We will start with segments, rays, and half-lines. We will define the term between as it relates to geometry and do some problems using the definition. We will look at examples of intersecting lines, skew lines, and parallel lines,

Lesson Comments
We are making great progress in our study of geometry. We have already established a pattern for our sessions that I think will work real nicely, Kaitlyn knows how to learn remotely. She asks great questions, lets me know if an explanation is not clear, and has a great attitude.

Basics of Geometry
Lesson Outline
We will discuss the syllabus, class procedures and an overview of the course content. We will study the concept of undefined terms as related to geometry (point, line, and plane). We will discuss the statement types used in formal geometry: definition, postulate, and theorem.
Assignment
Know the undefined terms and the three statement types that we studied.

Lesson Comments
We had a good discussion of the procedures, methods, and material that will be followed in this course. We determined that we will not use a textbook. We will have homework on a regular basis, a weekly quiz, and a test at the end of each quarter. We discussed the undefined terms and statements that are the basis of formal geometry. We had a very good session.
