Sophia has misplaced her notebook. This makes it difficult for us to refer to her previous work, but luckily we began a new chapter today. She is doing well on the outlining in terms of picking out important info, but she is still lacking in supporting details. She received a grade of 75% on her homework assignment because it was 2 days late and missing some information. She received a 70% on her test, but will be fixing the mistakes for a homework grade.
We continued reading the novel and analyzing character development with elements of foreshadowing. I read while she restated the plot events.

Sophia had a late lunch and needed to eat during the session. I used it as an opportunity to assess her listening skills for English. She does have a difficult time understanding some words without seeing them on the page. When I slowed down and dramatized the reading, she had an easier time comprehending.
Sophia insisted on repearing the experimente until her results were consistant with the theoretical resultss. Something you do not find in many students
The first half the session, we reviewed Sophia's letter again. We analyzed pronoun agreement and concsiitency, and the affect of pronouns on audience. The second half we read more of the Blundell novel.

Sophia didn't come prepared today at all. She said she'd had some issues surrounding a job in Miami and other things at home. I was very understanding, but told her these are things that need to be addressed earlier than the day of class. I still required her to take her test today, given that she's had ample time to study for it, even if an extenuating circumstance has arisen in the last 24 hours. She came without her homework, which results in a 10% loss on her grade every day that it's late. She also didn't have her materials, which sets us back a day, since I'm not able to make copies ahead of time. We decided on taking a field trip next week Thursday, if a certain percentage in terms of homework, classwork, and quizzes is maintained. Details to come. She was very understanding oft he agreement we reached, realizing the set-back to her learning it causes. She is an honest and bright student, and I know we can pull through.

Sophia is doing very well with her command of the first position chords. Her fingering of the lead patterns we are working on has come a long way. I was very pleased with her technique and phrasing of the notes today.
