Sohpia had read the assigned chapters and had chosen instances in the characters' dialogue when lying occurred. She also very insightfully chose moments of non-verbal lying, such as when the protagonist pretended to be asleep when she wasn't. We analyzed the philosophical definition of lying to the characters' intentions and the effects on the other characters.

Sophia was bright, cheery and very receptive during today's session. We didn't go outside, but I will save that opportunity for another low-energy day.
Sophia had completed the research assignment. The website that she discovered was very academic and I congratulated her on her choice: The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. We read the passage on defining lying and the dynamic of a person's intention and the receiver. Her analysis was insightful.

Sophia was a bit frustrated with the chapter, because she felt she had no background on the topic. The language is a bit difficult, as well. Next class, we will be reading out loud and outlining TOGETHER, because it is an extremely important skill to pick out the most important concepts and details in history.
