We worked on finishing Jackson's story, "Murder on the Subway." He has an engaging character, "Detective Joe," and an equally engaging "hook" for the story. Joe is awakened in the middle of the night by his captain and is ordered to an ax-murder that has taken place on a subway.

Jackson has a definite talent. If MLB doesn't work out, maybe sportswriting could be in his future.
We worked through Jackson's short story, "Murder on the Train," and made a few corrections. Then we turned to Stephen King's book,"On Writing." We examined his reading list in the back of the book and returned to the front of the book where we read of several experiences that related to his career as a writer.

Jackson is finishing his school year with the movie, Hook, based on the story of Peter Pan. We would stop the movie to discuss the updates to the story and how Peter finally grew up.
Jackson began typing up the short story he wrote for his Writing Enrichment class. We worked on his spelling and punctuation, especially the punctuation of the dialog in the story.
We reviewed evaluating expressions using the order of operations. Then we practiced evaluating expressions with given values for the variables. Next we practiced solving proportions. Then we reviewed and practiced finding percentages. We also practiced solving equations involving absolute value that yield two solutions.
Jackson played educational online math games that had been sent to him by his math teacher. The games are meant to challenge his math knowledge, including his ability to do algebra.
Jackson continued with the online grammar quizzes. He took quizzes on prepositions, verbs, and punctuation. The final quiz was a compilation of all the previous quiz topics, and he was able to answer more than 80% of the questions without prompting or assistance.
