We chatted about Jackson's draft story and he returned to the first draft and worked at completing it. Which he did. I had him read over the draft and look for areas which he might want to change. He found some areas which he said he needed to break up into separate paragraphs which he did by marking up his first draft.

Jackson focused on the creative element of the project. He printed out visual aids with text that he can apply to a poster board. He started with the title of the project and started to think of ways he can organize his findings. Jackson still needs to continue researching topics for additional information.

Jackson began class by reflecting on the changes in Charlie's "voice" pre and post surgery. We then continued to read the story and explore the ever drastic changes in Charlie. Jackson began to anticipate what might happen to Charlie and Algernon as the story progresses.

Jackson continues shaping the profile of his mini derby car using filing and sanding. Lastly, the car is painted orange and black. Wheels and axles are added. Testing is tried to see if car tracks and it does. Excellent session.

"Flowers for Algernon" short story

Jackson wrote a short essay in answer to a question about the different points of view from which the story is told (first and third person). He is working on making sure he writes in complete thoughts with good punctuation and grammar. He is also working on presenting information in a logical order. We continued reading the story for the remainder of class.
