Jackson used half of the session cutting out visual images that he will display on his poster board. He spent the second half of the session finding additional information related to problems confronting the island. He found a visual that relates to the magnitude of the earthquake that hit the island. He used google map to show the effects/aftermath.
Jackson finished listing the information he will use to support the main idea of his paper. He is working on writing his thesis statement stating that the Mafia were involved in the Kennedy assassination. His assignment is to complete the thesis statement, adding some of the supporting details.
Jackson wrote two short analyses of the story forecasting what might happen to Charlie as the story continues. We talked about how Charlie now feels like he may be racing time. We then continued to read the story.
We practiced solving quadratic equations by factoring and using the Quadratic Formula. We used a program online called Geogebra online to show that he is solving for x-intercepts, and what these graphs look like (parabolic paths).
Today we reviewed and did an activity on prepositions of place: up/down, above/below, inside/outside, left/right and so on. Also we learned about Uruguay and drew its flag and learned its capital.
Assignment
Do homework on prepositions of place due Wednesday 3/15
We continued to learn about the different parts of an internal combustion engine (while Jackson typed notes). The model engine came in, so we will start working on that this Wednesday!
Jackson started class with a keyboarding lesson. He is learning how to type with both hands so that he can become more efficient on the computer. After that, he worked on his PowerPoint presentation. He is learning how to apply themes and formats, how to order objects on a slide, and how to use images in the presentation.
Jackson proofread and edited five short paragraphs. He corrected grammar, spelling, word usage, and punctuation errors. With practice, he is becoming more proficient and catching the majority of errors in the paragraphs.
