Jackson and I would have talked about the limerick form of poetry and read several appropriate examples. He then would have begun writing his own limerick.
Jackson would have started reading "The Canterville Ghost" for this week's short story. We would have begun class with a discussion on the time period of the story and the relationship between England and the U.S.
Today, Jackson decided to restart his online card project after becoming comfortable with the online photo-editing tools last week. He found an image, adjusting it's color settings and added layers of customized text. Next, I showed how to add a plugin on gmail that would allow him to schedule his emails to send them on a holiday, for instance. Jackson installed and configured the plugin on his google drive, and the scheduled an email of the card that he made. Lastly, Jackson continued to practice typing paragraphs using the home-row position. Jackson is increasing his speed and accuracy continually, and is now at an average 16-18wpm and around 98% accuracy.
Jackson proofread and edited seven short paragraphs. He worked on identifying and correcting errors in the use of apostrophes, quotation marks, end punctuation, and capitalization. He also corrected misspelled and misused words.
Online games teaching strategy, planning, and imagination
Lesson Outline
I introduced Jackson to two new games of strategy and planning. The first game was Astrophysics where the player arranges a path through space using indirect manipulation of forces. The second game, Hexario, requires the player to surround areas while avoiding other players attempt to steal their areas.

Lesson Comments
Jackson enjoyed the challenge of Astrophysics but got tired of it after a few minutes. He switched over to Hexario. I was not able to watch the progress because the Skype connection was poor.
