Explained to them what Mexican jumping beans are and how kids play with them, watched a video on youtube. Did a Mexican Jumping Bean relay. Listened to Mexican hat dance music "El Jarabe Tapatio" and learned the dance and used their handmade maracas. Played 'Pelotas en la Canasta' (Balls in a basket) and Piñata. Put together a 100 piece puzzle of a piñata. Oliver brought Fiesta cupcakes. We discussed the weather in Mexico.

Science: Reviewed characteristics of different types of matter. Discussed how matter can be changed in many ways -dIt can change form and state. We can change matter with our hands by ripping,tearing, stretching, squashing, folding, cutting. Looked around room for matter we could change with our hands- paper, rubber bands, towels, balls, etc.
