Will and I continued his journal of instruction with directions how to prepare a batch of image files for email. First he had to reduce the size of the files using a batch action in Photoshop. We then worked with
screenshots. Will was directed to find a map of Lynn University, and was instructed on how to collect a
screenshot of the map. He was challenged to collect other screen images. I then had him write a short story of his plans to attend this university, and showed him how to add his screenshots to his essay. Will kept notes on the step-by-step process to do these processes.
I worked with Will on problems to review for the final exam. He successfully worked on problems including simplifying radical expressions, multiplying binomial expressions, rationalizing simple radical denominators, and rationalizing denominators with binomial radical expressions. We almost finished the review for the final exam. There was no assignment.

Will is making excellent progress through the review problems.
In this session, Will completed an exam on general knowledge geometric concepts and scored 41 correct out of 45. In the next session, Will is giong to complete an exam on analyzing polynomials of various degrees on the TI84.

Will and I started a journal of instruction to help Will with a movie project he expects to work on over the summer. We started with how to re-name a batch of image files using the name changer software. Will wrote out the steps as we performed the process. We then did the same for converting images into animation in Photoshop.
Will worked on answering questions from his reading assignment in class. He did an excellent job on his responses. Will is very good at summarizing what he reads. Next, we discussed some of the symbols and themes that are prevalent in the text. On Monday, for a final assessment, he will be writing a paper about the prevalent themes in the novel. Will’s only task for the weekend is to read the final pages 271-288. He is very excited to be almost done with this novel!
In this session, Will used the TVM program to work with annuities that would be used for retirement. Will would first determine the value of an annuity that was set up making regular payments. After he determined its future value he would set up another annuity to be paid quarterly until the account or future value was zero.
In this session, Will used the following applications on the TI84; The Value, Zeros, Maximum, Minimum and the intersect program. Will used several quadratic functions to analyze the equations.
Will discussed his reading and comprehension homework questions during the first part of our class. He did a fine job on his homework and has a good understanding of the text. We had a long discussion about the parenting skills of the parents. Will shared that he wasn’t sure whether the mother truly cared about her children, or if she was just too concerned about herself to properly care for her children. A central theme of the book is the idea of neglect verses the teaching of self-sufficiency. The children are forced to fend for themselves and the mother justifies this as teaching them self-sufficiency even though the parents themselves are not self-sufficient and cannot and do not provide for their own children. After the discussion, Will continued his work in media literacy. He reread the article about “fake news” and took a short quiz. We had a very interesting conversation about the role of “fake news” in today’s media. For homework, Will is going to read and annotate pages 245-271 in “The Glass Castle”.
In this session, Will learned to use the TI 84 applications to analyze various functions for Zeros, Maximum, Minimum, Intersection and Value of a function.
Review for Final Exam - Rational Exponents and Radical Equations
Lesson Outline
Will finished the first part of the review for the final exam and continued to review by using the practice test on rational exponents and radical equations. This practice test included integers and fractions raised to positive and negative rational exponents and simplifying radical expressions. Will worked diligently and completed more than half the problems. There was no assignment.
