Lesson Outline
Maya did well on her multiplication drill and is improving everyday. In Math lesson 12-5 Maya learned to find different fractions that name the same part of a whole. Maya used fraction strips to find equivalent fractions. After solving problems together, she then practiced many problems and was able to solve them independently. Maya learned to find the simplest form of a faction, which will be a useful skill in later lessons when she compares fractions, and adds and subtracts fractions and writes the sums and differences in simplest form. Maya completed an activity in her V/V workbook about a story entitled, Termites. She answered higher order thinking questions and drew her own image of the story. Maya continued in her FF program. Great work!

Mexico
Lesson Outline
Today Maya and I worked on completing her flip book on Mexico. Maya added pictures of people participating in festivals wearing brightly colored dresses. She also added some more pictures of animals found in Mexico. After taking a short brain break Maya and I went to the art room to draw and decorate dresses to look like the ones the girls in her book Mexico wore.

Sequencing and selecting books
Lesson Outline
Maya has been very conversational the last few days! After engaging in conversations about varying things in her life, we went to RaZ kids to pick new books. Maya chose 2 level k books, fiction and non-fiction. Then I printed them out and she sequenced both books using mostly picture clues and page numbers. I though it was interesting how she chose to rely more on the pictures than the page numbers to order the pages. After putting them together Maya started reading Level K Flower Power

Lesson Outline
Today Maya warmed up with a multiplication drill. She performed well and her speed is improving. Maya reviewed material from Topic 12 and and learned in Lesson 12-3 to use a fraction to describe a part of a set of objects. She drew pictures of a set of objects to show a fraction. We completed page 50 in her workbook. Maya did not do LB today. I chose to go ahead to the next lesson in math, as she was very attentive and missed yesterday. She learned in 12-4 that she can analyze given parts of a whole to find which benchmark fraction best represents the part. Maya compared commonly used benchmark fractions in order to gain experience in comparing and estimation fractions. Maya worked very hard in her FF program and came close to her high scores. Great effort today, Maya!

Discussion
Lesson Outline
Today I was hoping to complete Maya's fable and begin reader's theater. We were able to complete her fable and discuss homophones. However, Maya was very focused on wanting to re-account and share things about her new experience. Hopefully we can focus more on reader's theater tomorrow:)

Lesson Comments
Maya was very distracted and focused on her experience at the new school yesterday. We had a wonderful discussion, but Maya had an extremely hard time coming back to our lesson. After several attempts of redirection. I chose to go with Maya's flow for the remainder of our session.
