Today I was out for the morning and left plans for the substitute. They did not get to do math, because of a group Thanksgiving Day activity. We also lost class time, due to the Planet Play. Therefore, I used this 25 minutes to be sure Maya completed her math lesson for the day. We went over the previous night's homework and began a review for Topic 4. She appears to have a good grasp on the content taught in Topic 4- Subtracting Whole Numbers to Solve Problems. She began a review packet, which she will finish before taking her Topic 4 Test. Maya beat her time on her 6X table drill. Improving everyday!
Today Maya practiced her multiplication tables. She beat her time in a 6x table drill. We reviewed her homework, which she did a great job on. Then Maya practiced solving subtraction word problems by creating bar diagrams. She did beautifully, understanding which numbers to subtract and which number goes on top. In FF, Maya continued her program. She was happy because she entered a new level in Cosmic Reader. Super work, today!
Maya did a great job today in math class. She beat her fastest time with her 6X tables. She practiced on a multiplication wrap-up. She was happy to say that she now has one at home to practice, as well. Maya learned in lesson 4-5 to subtract three digit numbers across zeros. She demonstrated a clear understanding when she completed several problems independently. She has a good grasp on regrouping ones, tens, and hundreds and can easily explain this concept while solving subtraction problems. Maya was able to express her word and picture summaries in V/V. She read a passage about llamas and answered higher order thinking questions. In Fast ForWord she did a great job coming close to her records. Maya worked diligently today and was very productive. Keep up the good work, Maya!
