Finished reviewing the packet from chapter 7 food. Then we studied the history of the Mexican holiday 5 de mayo. We discussed the importance of the battle of Puebla. The french vs. the mexicans. We clarified that it is not the Mexican independence day - that date is Sept. 16th. Students then completed a word search with the important words from Cinco de Mayo. The students described the importance of these words as they relate to 5 de mayo. Then the students did a Word Jumble. Had to finish for HW.

Good review of 5 de mayo and clarify misconceptions. Good participation from both students.
We organized Devin's room for a few minutes. Then we went over the packet that was left for him from me from Thursday's substitute. He corrected his mistakes and looke up words he did not know using the spanish-english dictionary. We practiced with the vocabulary and helped him with the words he was struggling with.

Finish the activity from the packet about what he used to like to eat as a child versus now
Reviewed food vocabulary from the text. Students practiced with vocabulary associated with ordering at a restaurant with pg. 249 act. 3. Then we set up a memory game by writing questions and answers that needed to be matched up. Students found matches and played. then they had to take the vocabulary and calssift the foods into the following categories: soups/appetizers, main dishes, drinks, desserts.
