We went through the material pretty quickly, and I know she is getting nervous about her upcoming SAT on May 7, so we did a couple math SAT problems at the end of the class.
Reviewed food vocabulary briefly and used Bell Work activity from pg. 246 to have students put in the correct word into the blanks of the given sentences. Discussed other terms used with food like waiter (el mesero), tip (la proina), pedir (to order)

Students are practicing how to use the food vocabulary they are famliar with to use in every day situations.
Started chapter 7 - food and how to order foods from menus and restaurants. Reviewed several foods the students already know and introduced a few new ones. Had students complete text pg. 248 activity 1 - a dialogue between a waiter and customer practicing the new vocabulary. They completed activity 2 and practiced veral drills with foods.

Review character names and roles. Review the traits we know about them. Review West Egg vs. East Egg and what they symbolize. Talk about Gatsby's house and his parties. Discuss the Buchanans' house. Discuss Daisy's voice: how does Fitzgerald describe it? How often? What kinds of imagery does Fitzgerald use besides (the common) sight imagery? Sound? Point out instance of syntestesia on page 40 ("yellow cocktail music"). what do we know about Jordan Baker? What does Nick discover about her? What is the nature of his connection to her?

Sadie was absent. Devin is way behind on the reading. He has only read the first 20 pages. He missed two days of class during out last week of school before break. Apparently he did no reading during the break to catch up. I don't want it to be impossible for him to catch up and he's a somewhat slow reader, so I told him to start at page 40 and do his best to get up to page 80. I cut out pages 21 through 39 to make his life easier. I hope it works and I hope he can catch up.
