Ashley read the article from pg. 198 in the text ""Te aburre la rutina diaria?" Had Ashley answer the comprehension questions after she read the article. Then we created a couple of questions to poll our students and teachers and write in spanish to submit to Fish Tales. The students came up with 2 questions: Cuales dibujos animados veias cuando eras nino(a)? (Which cartoons did you watch as a child?) and Cuales actividades haces despues de la escuela? (What activities do you do after school?) Students went around the school asking students and teachers and recorded responses.

Sadie was absent. Ashley and Devin did an amazing job in the class discussion. They came particularly well prepared and participated actively and inteligently in the discussion. Both of them brought fresh insights and interesting ideas to our chat. Excellent work!
Discuss story. Ask abuot setting and characters. Ask about plot. Ask what happens in the end. Not everybody got the end. I assured students that that's what makes the story a great story. discuss vietnam war. Discuss Chippewa Indians. Locate them on a map. Ask about the drive Henry and Lyman took. Trace it on a map (huge drive--they go all the way up to Alaska.)
Discuss various aspects at length. Ashley was "on fire" She did a fantastic, wonderful job at the discussion. She carried it for the other three. I got the impression that she was the only one who truly focussed on the reading and used an analytical mind to consider it.
Assignment
Re-read the story and be prepared for quiz. Finish lit terms sheet
We used the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra to solve problems. (how many possible rational roots are there, what are the total amount of roots for a polynomail, etc.)
Reviewed all the concepts we have covered since the beginning of the year and introduced the last topics to be addressed. I introduced nutrient cycling (C, N, and water). Our future emphasis will cover how these cycles have been effected by humans and the environmental rebound.
