Jack was very late to class. He had a rash on his arms, so we spent the time we had talking with Mrs. Nicole and Elise to figure out if it was contagious. It turned out to be sea lice, which is very uncomfortable but not contagious.
We played some songs on the electric keyboard, and played with some different rhythms using the percussion voices. We also did a challenge game by using the lighted keyboard to play melodic notes along to an accompaniment.
We worked on some half scales and finger exercises. Jack asked about how people with physical limitations or handicaps play piano, so we watched a few videos of some differently abled people playing fantastic music despite their physical limitations. It was a great lesson showing that if a person has music in their heart and soul, nothing can stop them from finding a way to express it.
We started out playing basic scales and working on reading some simple songs from the Teaching Little Fingers to Play book. We spent some time playing on the electric keyboard.
