We began with "March of the Marionette." We then started a new piece, Tchaikovsky's "Russian Dance." We reviewed "Rage Over a Lost Penny" and discussed the concept of relative minors.
We began with a review of the scales Craig has learned to date. We then practiced a new piece, "The Juggler." In studying the piece, we worked on timing, note identification, and technique. We concluded with a right-hand, chromatic run.
Today we focused on "Egyptian Dance" extensively. We dissected the piece by first identifying all of the treble notes and then those of the bass. We practiced hands separately and then together, and reviewed sharps and half notes. We also learned more of "Pink Panther" by rote. Bobby has a very good ear and musical memory.
Today, we reviewed Gracyn's repertoire of memorized pieces. We also transposed "Mary Had a Little Lamb" into a fourth position, G position. We played a duet, and practiced "It's a Small World" in its entirety. Next, Gracyn listened to Beethoven's "Fur Elise."
We began with an ear-training exercise in which Gracyn identified tone direction on the piano. Gracyn then listened to music by Beethoven and Tchaikovsky. We discussed these composers, as well as the classical and romantic periods in music.
Today we played through several pieces in the Bastien method primer. We went over white keys A through E, and reviewed the previously-learned section of "In the Hall of the Mountain King."
We warmed up with C,G and D major scales, and the C chromatic scale with right hand. We practiced Radetsky March, with particular focus on timing. In reviewing Fur Elise, we worked on dynamics and softening the bass. We began J.S. Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." Stephen's musicianship is developing very nicely.

We began with Arianna's assigned pieces, for which she earned her completion stickers. We then went over the F-G-A-B white-key groups. We started a new piece comprised of these keys, and completed two related workbook pages.
We began with "It's a Small World." We practiced the piece in its entirety. Then Gracyn enjoyed playing the piece while improvising several verses of lyrics. We also played rhythm follow the leader on drums and piano, and rhythm hopscotch.
We began with a review of proper seating and hand position. We discussed the music alphabet and practiced locating all of the C-D-E groups on the piano keyboard. We played several pieces in the Bastien method primer. We also discussed the concepts harmony and improvisation. Lastly we learned an additional phrase of "In the Hall of the Mountain King" by rote.
