Michael performs better than expected with coming up with a plan to solve a word problem. He occasionally struggles when reading it himself but understands when I read it to him. He sometimes still struggles sometimes with the math - especially remembering processes for solving problems.
We watched the end of the movie today and had a good conversation about it. Michael definitely had a better appreciation for the confrontation between Drummon and Brady after watching it, rather than reading it. I think his reading is going to be a big issue in the future. We then talked about the overall message of the play as it is reflected in the three main characters. The image of the statue of justice appears repeatedly in the film, so for homework, I had Michael write two paragraphs discussing the image it portrays.

We continued watching the movie today, but first had a conversation about any differences Michael may have noticed. As I was concerned, he really doesn't remember what we read that well, and even after watching the movie, had trouble differentiating between the characters.
1)Michael adds a body paragraph to the essay that he has been writing on Tourism in Paris vs. Tourism in Miami.
2)Michael and I read the Einstein essay from his college textbook and track the progression of ideas. Later, we will end up writing an essay that engages with the ideas presented in this essay.
Michael practices writing body paragraphs for each of the introductions that he constructed yesterday afternoon. Afterwards, Michael and I had a critical thinking workshop where we discussed the difference between fact and opinion based thesis statements, and including the appropriate level of support in research papers.
