Read the chapter and complete the Review questions.
Discuss the Canterbury Tales. We completed the 12.2 review and then read the chapter. We will work on the review questions during enrichment.
We reviewed and played the progression to Sweet Home Alabama. We discussed the music theory behind the way chords are built and their relationship to the notes in the major scale for the key of G major.
This morning we began with filming Morgan presenting her poet, Dr. Seuss.
We sent the video to her home school teacher for review. We enjoyed reading through additional presentations by her classmates on Emily Dickinson and Rudyard Kipling. Morgan took relevant notes on each. Next, we finished reading chapter 8 in her novel, The Hiding Place. This chapter is entitled “Storm Clouds Gather” and after reading, we analyzed the meaning behind this title. There are many signs that Corrie and her family are about to get caught for their work in the resistance and hiding people in their homes. We paused throughout our reading several times to recall the events that had just taken place. We analyzed the characters’ actions and feelings for deeper understanding. Finally, we reviewed the degrees of adjectives with an activity in which Morgan chose the proper form from two-choices in a sentence.
We took turns reading her assigned Religion Textbook out loud and discussed the significance of each section. Paul was teaching the importance of having faith and not just following the religious law.
Fire drill. We proceeded outside and then returned to the school.
We watched school video on the importance of reason in faith.

Morgan is a pleasure to teach.
She could benefit with her reading fluency and decoding of multisyllabic words. (e.g.; circumstances, hypocrisy etc.). She has good reading comprehension but could improve in this area as well if her reading fluency increased.
9-5 Functions – We learned how to determine whether a given relation is a function either by a vertical line test or mapping the domain to the range. Then we learned to calculate functional values for a given function.
Morgan was introduced to her list 10 spelling practice, which included words such as tyranny, suspicious, suburban, and unpredictable. She wrote each word three times each for spelling practice and to gain familiarity with these words. Next, we viewed 3 Google Slide presentations of poet projects from Morgan’s class. Before watching the presentations, we discussed ways to take notes on the slides. We enjoyed learning more about Emily Dickinson, Dr. Seuss, and William Shakespeare taking relevant notes along the way. Finally, we read part of chapter 8 in the book The Hiding Place. We’ve read to the point where Corrie’s sister Nollie has been taken to jail for having a “Jew” in her house. Nollie remains unable to lie in honor of the Lord, even at the risk of the safety of others. We can’t wait to see what happens next!
