Wordly Wise Lesson Literature Book "Indian in the Cupboard"
Lesson Outline
Nico worked on using vocabulary words in context. He read a reading comprehension story "Up, Up, and Away," and answered comprehension questions pertaining to the story. We discussed the setting, the characters, and the problems that the main character had in his literature book, "The Indian in the Cupboard."
Saskiia completed a spelling lesson. We worked on short a words. We practiced making CVC words. She worked on the (at), (an), (ag), (ap) word families.

Nico read and discussed an article about the author, Lynne Reid Banks who wrote, "The Indian in the Cupboard." He read a summary of the book. He completed a study of the vocabulary words from Chapter 1-3, writing the words and the definitions in his notebook. He answered questions over Chapter 1-3.

Nico completed a Wordly Wise Unit exploring vocabulary words, their definitions, parts of speech, synonyms, antonyms, context and usage. He read and discussed a story about squids and answered comprehension questions about the story. He began reading a literature book, "The Indian in the Cupboard," by Lynn Reid Banks.
Saskiia completed a spelling lesson on short i words. She worked on and finished all the work she brought from her school. She completed several activities demonstrating her understanding of word families.
Mia completed her interactive calendar, noting the month and date. She finished her calendar talk and calendar writing activity. She practiced putting numbers in equal to, greater than, and less than order. She traced her upper and lower case ABC letters. She sounded out the first letter of foods that the Hungry Caterpillar ate and matched the word with its picture. She traced over the Hungry Caterpillar Words. She read her (at) family words.
