Lesson Outline
I substituted for Ms. Debbie today. Ayden worked on a writing assignment which pertained to the events in his life. He used index cards to include specific dates and important memories. Afterwards, he attended a presentation given by three students. He enjoyed this activity very much.
Ayden learned several new vocabulary words today. We discussed these new words in various examples. Ayden used each word to create his own sentences. Each word was placed in a binder in alphabetical order. He illustrated his sentences, also. Ayden read a fictional story from his book entitled "Harvey, The Foolish Pig". We discussed the story in detail, rereading excerpts to answer questions revelent to the story. Ayden did a super job!
Today Ayden continued to explore using the Scientific Method. He watched different videos to construct three paper airplane models. Some were quite difficult, but he put forth his best effort. This was step two in the process. Like real scientists, he learned that some experiments work better than others. He gathered data in order to test the problem he identified. This is a work in progress.

Great session. Ayden was very interested in the volcano news story and remembered a good deal about volcanoes. We reviewed the previous lesson material and Ayden did well. We did not complete the writing activity but will do so on Wednesday.
Yoga Kids DVD; hooping DVD; planned yoga fruit project
Lesson Outline
Ayden and I did our yoga along with the Yoga Kids DVD. Ayden was attentive to the DVD and was very good at following along. It was a good review of many of the poses we had done, but it also added some new ones. We then put the Hooping DVD on and Ayden showed off his hooping skills. We had not done hooping before and I discovered that Ayden was a very good hooper. We also discussed and planned out our Yoga Fruit project for next class (looked at some pictures online).
