Ayden's enthusiasm continues...he is eager for the "next" thing. This is good but I want him to continue to practice typing letters/words using the correct fingers without looking down at the keyboard.

Ayden listens the teachers instructions very well but he forgets fast what he said or teacher.
Today was the due date for segment #1 of Ayden's year-long Florida project. He submitted not just one, but three, items (two images of the Florida state quarter plus a page of explanation about the coin), pleasing me greatly. Ayden read from the page, then he and I discussed the specific items on the state quarter (year of statehood, NASA shuttle, Spanish ship, beach scene, etc.) Ayden performed very well. He also asked questions that led us to do some internet research via Wikipedia.org, which he said he had not heard of before. Thus, the project and its offshoot in class helped Ayden to begin developing research and presentation skills. I informed Ayden that I would be out of town on Mon., 10/28 (Kara will substitute for me), and that I would return to teach him on Wed., 10/30. A very good day, maybe Ayden's best so far.
Today Ayden continued his FF program. He got a new high score in the game Dog Bone. His score in Bear Bags did not register in computer, there was an error and we got disconnected, but he did complete this activity. In math he took a practice drill on the 4 X tables. He should continue to practice flashcards at home for speed. Today Ayden reviewed finding partial products and then in lesson 5-6, Ayden multiplied 2 digit numbers by one digit numbers. He did a great job and remembered to add the regrouped 10s.
Give Ayden a printout of a blank keyboard and have him touch the correct "keys" ( on the blank keyboard) as I call out words/letters. After that, go to the computer and practice level 4 Stage 10 letters x and z
We began today by discussing Ayden's Florida project, the first segment of which is due tomorrow, 10/24/13. Ayden said that he had an image of the Florida state quarter and understood that he would need to submit it and discuss it tomorrow. We finished our discussion of European exploration of Florida, including Britain's conflicts with Spain, Spain's ceding of Florida to Britain, Spain's recapture of Florida, and ultimately Spain's loss of Florida to the United States. We then moved to a survey of the Seminole Wars. A number of images were shown to Ayden, who seemed interested in the material. A good day.
Started step five today. We did an overview of all the syllable types and introduced the open syllable. He also learned the new sounds for y. (I, E)
In spelling Ayden worked on changing singular nouns to plural nouns using the rules for s, es and ies.
