Lesson Topic
community: town, history of Jupiter, FL
Lesson Outline
Patrick and I alternated reading, This is my Town. I would read and allow him to fill in the final word based on picture clues and the sounds seen in the word. He has strong picture clues of what makes sense, but he doesn't always connect them with the sounds seen in the word. We worked on that skill throughout reading the book. Patrick recalled the places seen in the community that were in the book. We discussed his town he lives in, and looked at photographs of Jupiter circa 1893, 1898, and 1910 to see the history. He will re-read this for homework tonight.

r blends, comprehension, sight words
Lesson Outline
Patrick played Fly Swatter with his r blend spelling words. He identified words containing the br, cr, dr, fr, gr and tr blends. I wrote two of each on the board, and verbalized which word to search for. I noticed that he would look to the r blend he heard, but was not conscious of the remaining sounds in the middle and end; therefore after her eliminated the other r blends that did not have the sound mentioned, it was a 50% chance he would pick the correct one. For the remainder of the game, I had him read each word, and be able to eliminate it once he read it. This helped with guaranteeing he was reading across the entire word. He is successful at hearing and identifying the dr sound, even though these sounds and spelling patterns are brand new for him. He read Move It! and answered comprehension questions. He did a great job of joining to predicates with "and" in his written response question. He read Move and Grin, giving him an opportunity to read his sight words in context. His reading is improving. We worked on identifying and writing possessive nouns. Please have him re-read Move and Grin and complete the remaining possessive noun questions in his workbook for homework.

Keyboarding/ FF/LB
Lesson Outline
Patrick continued in his new typing program today. He did fantastic, completing 5 modules in Lesson 1. He scored between an 82% and 96% . It is a great program. The TTRS course uses a unique multi-sensory approach. Patrick sees words on-screen, hears the words pronounced and feels his spelling on the keyboard. Patrick continued his FF program. In V/V Patrick continued to work on the emu story. Part of this session was used to create a Thanksgiving Day craft and listen to a read aloud entitled Stone Soup. This read aloud was an introduction to the "Friendship Soup" our students will be cooking for our Thanksgiving Day lunch on Friday.
