Patrick did a picture to picture activity where he verbalized a picture of a scuba diver underwater with a shark. He did a great job including all of the steps he has learned. Then he engaged in a word image activity. He was able to quickly identify the gestalt: a picture of a ladybug. He was asked to visualize the picture and provide a full description without looking. He needed to look back at the picture a few times, where eventually our goal is to create an entire image in his mind. He is doing very well.
Activity: every day day student measures the temperature outside and checks wind with the tool that he made. Describe some daily weather changes, including weather changes that are harmful to living things.

Patrick took very seriously checking the weather and working on the chart to be completed.
Patrick is doing extremley well in keyboarding! He came close to completing another stage. Today he learned how to type the comma and the letter C key. He is working on level 3, stage 9. In FF, he surpassed another high score today in Sky Gym. Today he worked on following directions and matching pictures with the corretponding directions. In Linda-mood Bell, Patrick did both the Picture to PIcture (Girl with a fish tank) and the Word Imaging Step. In the word imaging activity he was confident and descriptive. He provided the gestalt immediately and referred to his structure words. He looked back at the picture a few times in order to add more details, but when he was satisified he stopped and was able to demonstrate his ability to recall necessary information. Great job!
Patrick continued his Fast ForWord program today, but only completed one round of brain games. He completed a Word Imaging activity in V/V. He gave a great description of a sailboat, as he was able to make a picture in his mind. He verbalized the gestalt and important details from the picture. Patrick also participated in a group activity during some of his class time with me today. He listened to a read aloud about feelings, written by Jamie Lee Curtis. Students were able to recall moments in their life when they have experienced different kinds of emotions. This activity enabled students to see that they can choose different words to describe their feelings. Instead of using the word happy, they can say sunny, radiant, or content. This will be an ongoing activity to build vocabulary and social skills. Patrick did a great job today!
