Lesson Outline
Patrick did both a picture to picture activity and a word imaging activity. Today's picture in V/V involved more detail than the pictures from the past. When describing the picture of a boy throwing a frisbee, Patrick provided his best description yet. I did not have to ask many choice/ contrast questions. He confidently elaborated on all of the details. This step will soon be obsolete, as we will overlap word imaging and the next step. In FF, he did awesome... Breaking two of his highest scores. I will forward results and details from FF this week.

predict and confirm predictions; contractions, end blends: sp, st, sk
Lesson Outline
Patrick and I read The Old Lady who wasn't Afraid of Anything. We stopped and discussed the events, predicted, and read-on to confirm. I encouraged him to draw conclusions when possible. He made a jack-o-lantern by sketching out a design, cutting and glueing tissue paper, and adding glitter. These skills will help develop his fine motor ability. He was introduced to new sight words and recorded them in his book; there, she, he, was, and does. Please continue to practice these daily. He learned that contractions are words that are made up of two individual words and contain the same meaning. He practiced crashing together many words with "is" and "not," and replacing the vowel in the second word with an apostrophe. He was successful with writing and reading words with "is," ( she's, he's, it's, that's, there's) and was able to write words with "not," but found it diffcult to read words with "not." (doesn't wasn't weren't, can't, don't) He practice phonemic awareness of words with end blends; sp, sk, st by writing them on the board, classified by their common blend. If you know how to spell -rust, then you know how to spell -dust. Patrick finds it difficult at times to not include additional or inaccurate sounds due to the barrier of his letters getting mixed up in his mind.

Lesson Comments
Patrick is very attentive and works very well in class. He is forming his expanded chords nicely, but we have to work on hand position a little to get good tone and clarity from them. The expanded chords are much more difficult than the ones we have been doing. Patrick was doing so well with the simpler chords that I thought I would see if he could meet the challenge of working with some harder ones.

Ff/VV/Typing
Lesson Outline
Patrick continued to work on level 3, stage 9 in keyboarding class. This level teaches the skills he has learned so far, with an emphasis on typing letter c and the comma. In V/V, Patrick verbalized two different images for a picture to picture image and a word imaging activity. He followed the normal procedures and did well. I will email you his weekly progress in FF.

Lesson Topic
review nouns, possessive nouns, sight words
Lesson Outline
Patrick reviewed the concept of nouns by playing HeadBands. Without looking, he chose a noun card to wear on his headband, while his opponent did the same. He had to try to identify what noun was on his headband by asking a series of questions beginning with the main idea. Am I a person, place or thing? If thing was determined, he needed to decide it's category; food item, animal, or man made object, followed up follow up detail questions. Patrick did great with this. He learned that possessive nouns show ownership. We brainstormed some examples in his classroom and he learned where the position of the apostrophe and -s belong, and understood the concept that even though an -s was added to the noun, it doesn't mean there are more than one of that noun, but instead, that it has possession of something. He learned and recorded 4 new sight words; two, her, our, and they. He read these words in context while he read "Animals."
