Will had a very good day with fastforword today. He had very little trouble with the sentence combination exercise, and I was very pleased with the fact that he really slowed down and thought each possible sentence through. He only missed a couple of questions and some of those were because he accidentally hit the wrong answer. (or so he said) His reading comprehension has gotten better, especially when it comes to making inferences. He spent the last part of the session working on his typing.

Patrick and I read several books on ocean animals as we continued research on his project. He decoded several new words and recognized many sight words. He then used the MAC computer to conduct internet searches for ocean animals. He easily navigated Safari, opening and closing new tabs, using the print function, etc. Finally Patrick completed a Fast ForWord game which required him to read and complete sentences, decoding new words and recognizing sight words.

Will did a great job with fastforword today. In the punctuation exercise, he did especially well with apostrophes for possession and contractions, and capitalizing proper nouns. The spelling exercise clearly dropped down a level and gave him much easier words to spell, which he consistently knocked out of the park. He has really improved with double consonants preceding a suffix. Finally, he have no problems with the sentence combination exercise. He paid attention to details and got very few wrong. Great job!!

Sub for Miss Jennifer- FF
Lesson Outline
Sub for Miss Jennifer. Today Patrick completed three brain games. He did a great job. He was able to read and complete the blanks, with little support in Bedtime Beasties. In Magic Rabbit, Patrick was able to decode words and make new words by switching letters. In Bear Bags, he identified and matched words to words with the same long vowel sounds. In the extra few minutes we went over the meaning of a narrative text and added a few sentences to his narrative writing piece.

Will did very well on the reading comprehension exercise today. He's definitely improving at reading the tables, and did very well on the order of events questions. He is still having trouble with the difference between metaphors and similes, and no matter how many times we go over it, he just can't grasp oxymorons. But he has learned alliteration and onomotapia.

Will did very well in fastforword today. In punctuation, he's pretty much mastered abbreviations and proper nouns, and did very well on commas. What I've found most impressive is that he's very good about not over-punctuating. In spelling, he's doing better is "ious" and "ion" words, but had some trouble with double consonants and words that begin with "q".

reading comprehension

Will did very well on the fill in the blank exercise. I think he's finally worked out the difference between "through" and "thorough", and "moral" and "mortal". For some reason though, he is still having a lo of problems with "accent" and "ascent", and "cooperation" and "corporation". In reading comprehension, he did very well with the order of events questions, and did much better reading tables than last week.
