We played alphabet bingo then read a book "Buenas Noches Luna" (good night moon) We've read this book before, so I had Anna and Quinn read parts of it and try to remember some of the objects in the book.
Ms. Kim was out today. Today we read the book "…If You Lived in Colonial Times". Anna and Quinn took turns picking questions they wanted to know the answers to. For example, "Where did people buy their clothes?". Then they picked a questions and made an illustration to go along with it.
Anna and Quinn did a great job getting started and getting the game set up. But then they seemed to melt down a little. Both of them were moving pieces when it wasn't there turn, and repeatedly trying to make illegal moves. I stopped the game and talked about focusing and trying to take it seriously, and after that, things picked up. They are now checking to see if a move puts a piece in jeopardy, which is a big step for each of them. On the whole, I'm very pleased with their progress.
