Anna and Quinn completed several activities where they were required to identify sounds of written and orally presented words, particularly the 's' and 'z' sounds. They also practiced identifying the correct word that applied to a sentence. They had to determine which tense of a word was appropriate, i.e. go, goes, went (either past, present, or future tense. At the end of the session, we played academic games.
I read a book to Quinn and Anna about The Lost Colony. We discussed the various theories that have been discussed regarding what happened to the Roanoke colonists. They each started writing about one of their theories.
Students will use objects to solve problems finding fractions of a group. They will understand that some problems can be solved by using objects to act out the actions in the problem.
