We went through Chapter 6 to review for his test tomorrow (factoring with GCF, trial and error, special cases, and solving).
He needs to practice a little bit more before his test tomorrow and he will be fine (factor by grouping, sum and difference of cubes).
We went through special factoring cases and examples in his homework (Difference of Squares, Perfect Square Trinomials, Sum of Cubes, Difference of Cubes).
He has a few homework problems left to work on, and I suggested more practice in the book so that it 'sinks in.' This is a very important section.
I showed him the trial and error method to factor quadratic expressions. We completed a worksheet given to complete. We used the problems on the worksheet for his practice in factoring and understanding the concept behind what factoring is. I suggested that he do a few problems in the section to allow the information to sink in further.
We did a quick review of the information on his final. With a little bit more practice on concepts, such as the properties of exponents, he should be ready. Be careful with the algebraic manipulation! Pay attention to the signs also!
We went through a worksheet covering Chapter 4 and 5, to review for his final. He should look through all of the information so that when I see him Thursday, he brings me questions that he has no idea how to do.
We went through a worksheet that is required for his final review. He seemed to know the information, he just needed some review of some of the topics.
Ben brought in some problems for review for his test tomorrow. Some of the concepts involved were multiplying and dividing polynomials using multiple methods.
ACT Prep Math, Science, Verbal. Started session with a conversation to get to know him. He completed a reading section, which was 35 minutes long. We talked about strategy in answering questions. He is going to do a science and writing test before we meet again. Since he only finished 30 of the 40 question on the reading section, he is going to use RPS 20-30 minutes per day to increase his reading rate and ability to find information.
We went through some practice problems on the ACT for algebra to determine where he is algebraically. We used some tricks involving POE and PITA methods, and the ratio box for certain problems where they applied to help speed up the time it takes to complete a problem.
