Abbey finished painting her United States regions map as well as outlining all of the states. We continued our discussion about regions and did some practice questions for the test. Monday we will continue our notes and review for the test.
Abbey and I continued our discussion on culture regions by introducing some new terminology such as genres de vie, cultural landscape , and symbols. We also did some community service for the school which consisted of assisting with the set up of the lunch area and reading a passage from the "book of animals" to Yanuelle .
Abbey and I went over the eleven American culture regions. She continued working on her thematic and regional map of America, which is painting as a project. Tomorrow we will finish up the map and continue our discussion on culture regions.
Abbey and I had a brief review of the three different types of regions. I let her know that she has a test on CHapter 1 and 2 on Thursday February 6th and that she should review her notes and projects when she has time. We read an article describing the 11 regions of the United States , Abbey expressed an interest in painting the U.S map showing the 11 regions. We began painting her cultural map.
Today Abbey and I discussed culture regions and how they are classified. We also discussed the different types of regions ( there are 3)and their importance. Last,we went on the web to further understand the different regions by finding examples.

Abbey was tired and uninterested in doing any work, but I somehow got her to finish it.
Today, Abbey finished up her equestrian community project by writing her findings and her conclusion. We then went over the different types of thematic maps and researched them. We then took the maps and wrote about what information is being provided by the map and its meaning.
Today Abbey and I spent our time finishing up our report on the equestrian community. She was more thorough in her description of the findings. The report was typed up neatly , it is better suited now for a grade than the previous version. She also made some discoveries about the racial makeup of the equestrian community which was an eye opening experience for her. Overall great session.
Today I introduced Abbey to two new terms, culture regions and interdependence. She answered a few questions given to her and she did well. I gave Abbey a Monday deadline for her project so we continued our work. Abbey found a very interesting article about the history of the equestrian community. This article assisted her in identifying the 5 themes in social studies. We will finish the rest of the fields next time we meet.

Abbey was lacking the motivation to do her work well. She is taking the easy way out and there seems to be a lack of effort on the project. I will explain to her that this is a grade and her effort will be reflected in it.
