We explored secant lines and tangent lines on the white board. We examined the slope of the two lines and saw how the two slopes approached the slope of the secant line as the two points on the function got closer. We then looked at the limit of the difference quotient gave us the derivative of the initial function.

Trevor was absent. (He actually showed up with 5 minutes left in the session. I decided that it was ridiculous to try and cram something useful from an AP Statistics curriculum into less than 5 minutes, so we shut down.)
Trevor and I had a very interesting conversation about religion and the influence of family and community. Trevor is a very bright guy with a lot of interesting insights. We started reading the play and will work our way through it.

We discussed the anatomy and physiology of the system with respect to the reason for the formation of urine, and how each part affects not only the renal system but all other systems as well. This will lead into a discussion of renal disorders and drugs used to treat them. Trevor was very busy for the 2 hours
We discussed limits in general and how limits broke logjams for both Isaac Newton and Gottfried Leibniz in developing differential and integral calculus. We then explored finding limits of functions manually and with the use of the graphing calculators.

Trevor spent more time revising. But in discussing the logic and development earlier, he discovered more weaknesses that he would like to address in revision.
